I’ve been in Australia since the beginning of 2026 and find that I am loath to return to the states, but I am also homesick for my own home. I miss my creature comforts, my own bed, and everything that comes along with my little world in the USA.
The trip has been phenomenal; I’ve seen so much and experienced a lot in the time that I have been in this amazing country. I’ve explored a bit of Melbourne (where I learned the locals pronounce it Melbin, not Melbourne), a decent amount of Sydney, am currently in Richmond, and I will end the trip is Brisbane (pronounced Brisbin) before flying home. I’ve seen wild kangaroo, birds that I could only see in exotic pet shops back home just flying around, lots of amazing views, and experienced summer in January.
I’m looking forward to sitting down and writing more about this amazing experience, sharing photos that I took along the way, and putting the proverbial pen to paper on a story idea that sprang, nearly fully formed, to me during one of my many walkabouts through the streets of Sydney.
